The History of Bath Research Group was founded in 1986 with the objective of bringing together historians who were actively engaged in research in the Bath area.
Over the years many have published on different aspects of local history (including studies in the journal Bath History) and have given talks at our meetings.
We also welcome those who simply wish to learn more about Bath's history and to support us in the work that we do, to attend our regular talks and visits, or to follow us through this website.

The meetings programme of talks for 2023-24 continued with our AGM and a fascinating talk from Stephen Bird on the painter Hardwick and his curious view of Weston. We conclude the year with two visits in May and June, led by Dr Amy Frost, the first to Goodridge's Elim Pentecostal Church in Charlotte Street, the second to Beckford's Tower to look at the newly completed work on the tower (scaffolding now removed).
Our full list of meetings for the 2023-24 session is available from our meetings page. Meetings for our 2024-25 session will be posted in late August.
